For goalies?...I just use the clear hanging throat protector..Is it needed to wear both?Does anyone wear a throat protector on your neck? Or just the clear hanging throat protector on your mask?
Go with the hanging protector. I read somewhere that the cotton/kevlar protetctor doesn't give you 100% protection (kind of like Jude's dad's condom....HI-OH!!!) but it is in the high 90s. It has something to do with funny angles. The hanging protector'll give you 100% protection and eliminates the angles. The only thing that I would be concerned about it is if you buy a faulty one, it breaks on impact.Does anyone wear a throat protector on your neck? Or just the clear hanging throat protector on your mask?
I used both at one point and nothing ever happened so i stuck with just the clear protector, works good!
when i do play goal i use the clear hangin one. but sum times i forget it and just go with a str8 goal mask
I don't wear either but every once in a while you get a bomb off the collar bone which hurts for like a day but its not bad. I think the increased freedom in mobility is worth the occasional pain. But if i had to pick one i would definitely use the hanging throat protector
I made my own way back when with a coping saw, my sisters hair dryer, and a scrap piece if 1/8'; plexiglass.
My son wears a throat protector on his neck! It has came in handy at time of the puck being raised! I know alot of the goalies wear them here in our big hockey small town! There is a few goalies that I have notice them wearing the clearing protector that is attached to their goalie helmet! I think that is a good idea to wear the throat protector even if you do not wear the hanging throat protector!
I only use the clear hanging guard. I felt uncomfortable when I tried the throat protector.
clear throat one. the other one irritates my neck and feels weird when i move my head . .
